3 out of 5 stars Does this work on Verizon FiOS network?   September 4, 2010
Big D (USA)
Does anyone know the difference between the WIS09ABGN and WIS09ABGN2 models? I can't find any information and/or comparison of the two models, other than the one ending in "2" was made in 2010 while the former in 2009.

From what I've researched online, my BD-C5500 blu-ray player works with WIS09ABGN, WIS09ABGN2 and WIS10ABGN despite the latter not being offered on amazon.com as of Sep 2010.

Finally, I've read that owners on Verizon FiOS will have unresolvable issues trying to get the "Internet Test" to PASS successfully. Anyone have this experience?

1 out of 5 stars Beware Samsung Wireless blu-ray   August 16, 2010

I'm sorry to give this a bad review, I really want to give a good one but can't. My "wireless ready" blu-ray player required this unit to work, I wanted to use this to stream Netflix movies to my TV but it would never pass the internet service test. I updated the firmware on the player to the latest revision but it still wouldn't work. I sent the wireless unit back for a refund and I ended up running a cat5 cable back to my router. The unit still failed the internet service test. Frustrated, I tried Netflix anyway and lo and behold it worked for whatever reason. I didn't really try Netflix with the wireless dongle like I did with the cat5 cable, at the time I assumed that without it passing the internet service test it would obviously not connect. Regardless, with cat5 cable Pandora doesn't work because it says there is no internet connection (??!!??). I'm not sure that this setup is ready for prime-time. It's obviously a problem with the player, so perhaps I didn't give the wireless dongle a fair shake...but it was supposed to work with my unit. Whatever the problem, it was a frustrating experience as I'm an IT person and couldn't get it to work after about 4 hours of trying. For those of you with the Xbox 360, you might find that this is a better solution for streaming Netflix to your TV, as it literally took 10 minutes to get it working just fine. This is also the case for a Wii that I recently used to stream Netflix.

Works well with my Samsung Blu Ray player. Used it to stream movies directly from Netflix, music from Pandora radio and Youtube with my wifi modem. Cost less on Amazon compare to local retailers. No regrets so far. Fast delivery.

1 out of 5 stars Recomend that no one porchase this item   August 5, 2010

I purchased this item since it is the only item specified to work with the Samsung blue-ray player I previously purchased. It was in order for me to connect wireless to my network without the need for it to be hard wired. It does not work, I have had numerous calls with Samsung and the even elevated the problem to what the call the 3rd level tech support. It may not be the on the individual adapter by also the Samsung blue ray player. After doing additional research, I discovered that numerous people that purchased this adapter have has similar problems. It appears that Samsung does not know how to solve the problem. The next step is to return both items. Unfortunately, I have spent too much time trying to resolve the problem.

4 out of 5 stars Intimidating, but possible   August 2, 2010

The Samsung WIS09ABGN2 seemed more intimidating that it actually was -- with help from Samsung and my wireless provider. Codes between the two are not standard making for some confusion, but the Qwest help person really was helpful. Not so for the Samsung help provider who was extremely slow, didn't seem to understand the questions, and eventually simply quit the session!

The Samsung WIS09ABGN2 works just fine. The owner's manual isn't very helpful about the streaming aspect of the device, but Netflix and other Apps seem to work.
